FAQs

Solar Panels can significantly lower your monthly energy bill, leading to long-term cost savings. They increase the value of your home and with solar being clean, renewable energy, you are reducing your carbon footprint and helping save the planet! You’re not only saving money over time but also making a positive impact on the environment. It’s a win-win all round!

Solar Panels work on most rooftops; however, several factors including roof orientation, pitch and shading determine suitably. Our team will take these factors into account when providing you with a detailed proposal, so you will be fully in the light on the specific benefits for your home.

A Solar Panel (also known as a solar photovoltaic PV) is made from a group of cells in a semi-conducting material that capture sunlight. When sunlight hits these cells, it energises electrons, creating an electrical current. Solar panels generate a direct current (DC) of electricity which then passes through a piece of equipment called an inverter, to convert into the alternating current (AC) we use in our homes.

The amount you can save with solar panels depends on a variety of factors including how much sunlight your panels get, how big your solar system is, and how much electricity you use, It’s very difficult to answer that question without knowing a few things about your property (click here – enquiry form). Our team will provide you with a full breakdown (specific to your home) of the savings achievable in a proposal.

Planning permission usually isn’t required for domestic solar panel installations as they fall under ‘permitted development’. However, if your home is in a conservation area or is a listed building you may need to get approval from the council.

Absolutely! However, the power generated by your solar panels in the winter will be lower. Our team will be able provide you with a monthly breakdown (specific to your home) of the power generation achievable.

Yes, all Solar Panels installed by ekinect come with 25-year manufacture warranty and 2-year workmanship warranty.

Your energy company will pay you for any excess electricity you generate and don’t want to store in your battery. You’ll need a Smart Meter installed, but the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) is government backed and ensures energy suppliers pay you appropriately for the energy you export. Be aware, if you are exporting, nearly all energy companies require you to have your solar panels installed by an MCS certified company. Don’t worry, we are!

Factors such as the size of the system being installed and access to the roof vary with each job. Typically, it only takes one or two days to install, however scaffolding will also need to be erected and then taken down. Prior to installation our team will email you with a full run-through of what to expect.

Our installation team will give you a full run-through of the system and a handover pack before they leave. We are also available for ongoing support and maintenance to help you get the most out of your new system.

After installation we will ask you to download an App, this will show you the energy your solar panels are producing. The app will also show you the amount of electricity you are consuming, storing and importing/exporting so you can always feel totally in control.

We at ekinect are MCS-accredited and our team are dedicated to ensuring our customer needs are put first. We will take you through every step of the process from initial design, consultation, financing, DNO application, survey, supply and install, monitoring and finally maintenance should you require it.

We’re fully accredited by MCS, EPVS, HIES, NAPIT, NICEIC and TrustMark

Studies show that a solar panels life span is typically between 25-30 years, however it’s not uncommon for them to last a lot longer. A solar panel doesn’t stop producing electricity after this time, it simply produces it at a lower rate due to degradation. The quality of a solar panel can impact the rate of degradation and how long a solar panel lasts, so we at ekinect only install a range of top-rated panels that match performance with design.

Maintenance can help ensure your solar panel system operates efficiently and has a long lifespan. We recommend an annual service. Our team can talk you through the options available to add a maintenance package, giving you peace of mind knowing that your new system is always at its best.

Yes, whether you are new or existing customer we can find a suitable maintenance package to suit your needs. We recommend an annual service. Talk with our team on (phone number) or email hello@ekinect.energy to find out the options available.
